AN INTRODUCTION TO LITERATURE AIMS:

Ø  To provide students with programme that enable them to use the language;

Ø  To provide students with programme that enable them to have better understanding of the major elements of literature, with an emphasis on developing skills for reading and analysing literary text;

Ø  To provide students with a practical guidance on how to analyse literature;

Ø  To prepare students for the various types of texts they will encounter in their following years of study.


Initiation to Literary Texts

 What is meant by ILT ?                                                                                                   

ILT is a Fundamental Teaching Unit and it stands for Initiation to Literary Texts. It is an introduction to English literature, its history and importance in the learning process for "first year licence students". It starts with a simple introduction to the subject; then, it gives an idea about the main literary movements and some famous writers and works. It also deals with the literary genres, elements and techniques which are necessary to analyze literary works starting with poetry, drama, and prose.
General and Specific Objectives
At the end of the course, the learner would be able to analyze literary works of the different literary genres using the appropriate techniques and elements.
