This is an initial exploration into the field of language contact and its outcomes, as well as the social and linguistic factors that regulate changes resulting from contact. We will delve into a wide range of language contact phenomena from both general linguistic and sociolinguistic perspectives, while also surveying current approaches to all major types of contact-induced changes.
