Fondations et ouvrages géotechniques
This course covers the essential mechanics of soil-structure interaction through four main areas. First, it explores Limit Equilibrium States to define how soils reach failure using Rankine and Prandtl theories. Second, it details the design of Retaining Structures by calculating lateral earth pressures to ensure stability against sliding. Third, the study of Shallow Foundations focuses on determining the bearing capacity of the ground to safely support structural loads. Finally, the course addresses Slope Stability, where students learn to calculate the Factor of Safety to prevent landslides in natural and engineered embankments.
